You may also use Sod and Seed Starter Fertilizer for seeding. We recommend using this product twice for seeding, once before the seeding application after your soil is prepared and again 6 weeks later to ensure you have fed the whole lawn area. Seed generally takes between 5-6 weeks to germinate fully. During this time, you must keep the area moist with daily watering.
Starter Fertilizer
To ensure a healthy lawn, use starter fertilizer before laying sod. The use of fertilizer is a critical step and should be applied every 2 to 3 months. Fresh sod needs a unique combination of nutrients that it can obtain through our specially formulated fertilizer specific for our sod types. A combination of nitrogen, phosphate, and potassium will support your lawn. Iron aids in ensuring that sod has adequate nutrients and keeps your lawn green. Phosphates and potassium help establish a rooting system, and nitrogen will then support flowering and growth.
For lawns that already are established, high nitrogen and low phosphate and potassium will support your lawns to green up faster and extend the green color.
**Sod and Seed starter fertilizer is always recommended when sodding/seeding a new lawn.**
